Our Past Events & Programs

Take a look at the impactful initiatives we have completed, from youth empowerment workshops to community health and education programs.

Adolescent Rights Awareness

Bitare JSS, Kisii County    November 2025

We held an interactive session at Bitare JSS to sensitize both girls and boys on critical issues affecting adolescents, including:

Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH)

Gender-Based Violence (GBV)

Avoiding risky situations, especially for adolescents who may face exploitation due to vulnerabilities such as lack of access to essential needs like sanitary pads.

During the discussion, many adolescents openly shared their experiences and challenges. While some found the courage to speak up, it became clear that more safe spaces are needed — particularly in girls’ schools — to encourage open conversations, strengthen mental health awareness, and empower young people to protect their rights.

Together, we can break the silence, create greater awareness, and build a safer future for our adolescents.

Back-to-School Dialogue

Etureti, Kisii County    October 2025

The Beacon of Hope held an engaging and interactive session with Duty Bearers at Etureti focusing on the Back-to-School Policy for survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), child marriage, and child pregnancy.

The dialogue highlighted several key areas:

Raising awareness on the different forms of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and the importance of accessing post-rape and defilement care and services.

Strengthening knowledge on referral pathways to ensure survivors receive timely and effective support.

Encouraging communities to pursue justice through formal legal systems rather than relying on informal community or “kangaroo” courts.

Promoting school re-entry for adolescent girls after childbirth in line with government policy, while sensitizing stakeholders on its importance.

The session also emphasized the critical role of Duty Bearers in safeguarding the sexual security of adolescent girls and in creating safe environments where open conversations on sexual and reproductive health can take place.

Through these discussions, participants strengthened their understanding of how to support girls and young women with the knowledge, protection, and confidence they need to continue their education and pursue their future.

Together, the stakeholders reaffirmed a shared commitment to building a future where every girl is safe, supported, and able to return to school.

Teenage Pregnancy Awareness

Kisii County    September 2025

The Teenage Pregnancy Awareness initiative was organized to educate adolescents, parents, and community members about the realities, risks, and long-term effects of teenage pregnancy on education, health, and future opportunities.

The session focused on several important areas:

Educating adolescents on sexual and reproductive health, personal responsibility, and informed decision-making.

Highlighting the social, economic, and health challenges that often arise from early and unplanned pregnancies.

Encouraging open dialogue between young people, parents, teachers, and community leaders.

Promoting mentorship, guidance, and access to accurate reproductive health information.

Participants actively engaged in discussions, shared perspectives, and explored practical ways communities can support adolescents in making safe and informed life choices.

The initiative reinforced the importance of collective responsibility in protecting young people, supporting their education, and helping them build a brighter and more secure future.
